International Student Society (ISS)

The International Student Society (ISS) is a diverse social group at Full Sail University that promotes a sense of community, learning, and understanding. ISS provides a multitude of opportunities for students to connect regularly and celebrate each other's cultures and traditions. This community especially serves as a support system for Full Sail's international students.

Alumni Ambassador Program: This role is an excellent opportunity for Full Sail international student alumni to stay connected with their alma mater, assist as alumni representatives in their home countries alongside international department staff, network with fellow graduates and students, participate in various discussion platforms, as well as nurture their leadership skills.

Culture Shock, Assimilating to Your New World: Based on the four proposed stages of Culture Shock, this playful and engaging workshop is designed to educate students on the developmental journey they go through while transitioning to the American culture. It promotes open discussion, fosters a feeling of belongingness, and guides them towards a path of student success.

ISS Mentorship Program: This program is aimed at developing current Full Sail students as leaders, and providing a supportive role model for incoming students. Student leaders are paired monthly with incoming students and attend workshops to assist in personal & professional development; topics include but not limited to: Effective Communication, Building Meaningful Relationships, True Colors Assessment, Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) and the Fish! Philosophy.

OPT Workshop: This session discusses Optional Practical Training (OPT) - post-graduation work authorization - that F-1 international students are eligible to apply for upon successful completion of their degree program. Here, the students' Designated School Officials (DSOs) expand upon their options after graduation, OPT application requirements, and ways to prepare for their next steps.

Student Life & Networking Workshop: This workshop is built to help all active international students better connect with available support services and on-campus opportunities. Strategies also are discussed to help students identify where they stand on their path to success, further adapt to the Full Sail environment, and improve their approach to daily tasks and long-term goals.

After Graduation

International students at Full Sail enter the country on F-1 visas. With the F-1 visa, they may be permitted to work on campus while pursuing their degree, and for Optional Practical Training (OPT) upon completion of their studies. OPT is a 12-month period of work authorization in the U.S., applied for and approved through USCIS (Immigration). This is a continuation of the F-1 visa status. Students who graduate from a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) degree program may be eligible to extend their OPT by 24 months. Your assigned Designated School Official (DSO) will help you with the process once you are eligible. You can find additional information here.
